We are pleased to present a series in which we will share the stories, impressions and inspiration of people who have gone through Nikanor’s training. Every story is different, but they all have one thing in common – the desire to develop, learn and follow their dreams, regardless of when they decide to take that step.
Today we meet Miglena Todorova – a lady who proves that “old love never rusts”. She decides to return to the profession that is close to her heart – tour guiding.
After choosing to study at Nikanor, Miglena says that she has found professionalism, honesty and an attitude that inspires her. Thanks to the teacher Dr. Svetla Tagareva, the course gives her not only knowledge, but also confidence – all the students graduate with excellent results!
Now Miglena is one step away from making her dream come true – she is about to complete an internship and obtain a license from the Ministry of Tourism.
✨ Thank you, Megi, for sharing your story and the inspiration you bring!
You can read her entire story here:
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am your tour guide, allow me to introduce myself…” My name is Miglena Todorova and I hope that these words will soon become part of my everyday life. I am from Pernik, 60 years old and a person with free time. That is why I decided to return to a profession that is close to my heart and that I practiced seasonally when I was 23 and 43 years old. “Old love never rusts” they say and it is true. I looked for companies offering a course for tour guides and saw that NIKANOR are leaders in all areas, so I settled on them. From the beginning of the course to the end, I had the opportunity to be convinced of the correctness of my choice – exceptional professionals, a model of honesty and good attitude towards the students. My goal was to obtain a certificate and learn more about the organization of work in travel agencies, creating new routes and calculating the prices of excursions, legal requirements, regulations and documents related to the work of a tour guide. Tourism is a field that is constantly developing, new developments and changes must be learned in a timely manner.
The knowledge that we acquired in the course, thanks to our erudite and brilliant teacher – Dr. Svetla Tagareva, made us more confident, knowledgeable and able to cope in any situation, in our chosen profession. Thanks to her exactingness, objectivity and diplomacy, the training was fruitful and 6 months passed unnoticed. Our preparation was more than successful, we all passed the exams with excellent marks, with accurate grades in each subject.
Once again, huge thanks to our teacher and the team of the company “Nikanor”!
For me, the completed course is a goal achieved. The next step is to get a license from the Ministry of Tourism and this requires me to spend 10 weeks of internship at a tour operator company, attached to a tour guide. Another challenge that I take on with enthusiasm. It is never too late to make your dreams come true!
This internship will strengthen my knowledge of the sites and working with documents. The example of the tour guide will show me in a real environment how to deal with problem tourists and emergency situations. They are an inevitable part of the work of every tour guide. Applying what I have learned in theory in practice will build in me useful habits and quick reactions in complex situations.
I am a ski instructor and therefore I have become quite strict and demanding, I have to soften my tone and attitude. On the other hand, I have been taught to take care of and protect tourists, which is a plus. There is a lot to work on to improve myself 🙂
When I start leading groups, I will apply a lot of what I learned in the course, it will help me get out of every situation in the best way, without bad consequences, reviews and losses. To satisfy the expectations and requirements of a group of tourists requires more than knowledge. It is: talent, animation, a sense of humor, flexibility, combinability, resourcefulness and kind severity. Without it, there is no smooth organization and smooth running of the excursion.
If you have the above-mentioned qualities and enough free time, you can accept this challenge. Tour guiding requires care and attention to people who want to travel in an organized way, because they do not have the courage and opportunity to do it independently, or they find it more fun. This profession needs people with big hearts and good souls, willing to lead tourists around Bulgaria and the world.
Choose “Nikanor” for your start to adventures!
If I had to describe them in one word, it would be: FUTURE!!!
GREETINGS to the team-
Megi
