Success, power, equality, asylum and knowledge : just Her

The project will address inclusion and diversity, as it will directly support migrant and refugee women in their integration and active involvement in their communities by developing an open platform with inspirational stories for them, and lesson plans that will help them learn a language of their new country from a perspective they will feel identified with.

The project will address the barriers they are facing by providing new learning opportunities and contributing to the creation of new inclusive environments. By improving language skills of migrant and refugee women, we appeal to their gender awareness, as well as teach them the EU common values and community cultural heritage. This improves women´s prospects for integration, learning and employment, and helps them to build new social networks, gain confidence and become active members of their communities.

This project will support adult educators to reach, include and empower refugee and migrant women, and improve their basic and language skills. It will build educators’ competences to use storytelling methods to inspire and motivate learners. It will contribute to promoting gender equality and inclusion by enabling educators to develop better learning offers, and facilitate links and exchange of good practices between the partner countries and participating organisations and stakeholders.

A set of resources will be created for adult educators: a conceptual background, a handbook for educators, min. 35 stories about “unknown and invisible women”, min. 21 lesson plans and an online/blended course. The products will be peer reviewed and piloted with the target group, and integrated into an open online learning platform. Communication activities, multiplier events and meetings will be held to increase awareness and to connect partners with each other and with stakeholders.

The project will lead to improvement of learning outcomes and skills of refugee and migrant women, through the use of storytelling teaching methods. It will lead to increased awareness about the needs of this target group and to raised capacity of adult educators to meet these needs. It will also reinforce gender equality and the understanding of its historical roots, and lead to enhanced cooperation between adult education and other sectors, between and within participating countries.
